Samsung selected to supply mobile WiMAX platform to UQ

TOKYO (WiMAX Day). Samsung Electronics announced that it will provide its mobile WiMAX platform to UQ Communications, the KDDI-Intel WiMAX joint venture in Japan. Samsung will provide its mobile WiMAX Wave 2 base station systems. According to Samsung, UQ began testing the network in March 2008, and the service is expected to be available for commercial use in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya in 2009.
