Altitude will double network size

PARIS (WiMAX Day). The WiMAX operator Altitude Telecom announced last week that it will double the number of base stations in its network this year to 600. The company said that it is having considerable success deploying WiMAX in areas of France not presently serviced with broadband. This success has seen subscriptions rise to over 600 new orders per month, from both businesses and individuals. “Since the beginning of the year, we’ve seen a real increase in demand. This increase is due to the fact that we deploy networks in areas that are not covered by ADSL,” said Jean-Paul Riviere, CEO of Altitude Telecom. “With several thousand subscribers, WiMAX is no longer in the experimental stage.”
